House Insulation Tips

Insulate Your Doors, Garage, And Windows On Your Home

To adequately put the finishing touches on your home so as to make it as efficient as possible, you’ll need to explore the world of insulation.  A full and complete weather proofing and sound proofing will make your home more comfortable and will keep more money in your pocket in the long run.  Take a perusal of some of the features you might consider when outfitting your home.

For the easy 1-2-3 solution for just about any part of the home you can use a spray insulation.  Spray foam insulation kits are available for smaller DIY jobs that focus on the hard-to-reach places.  For big projects, insulation contractors will probably make life easier.  Batt insulation, foam insulation, spray-in insulation, or many other types may be used by professionals and will depend largely on insulation goals and your budget.

Don’t just focus on the obvious wall and attic insulation solution.  Proper door and window insulation is a big key to having a fully insulated home.  Another often overlooked part of the home insulation mix is the garage door.  Easy to use foil bubble insulation can be placed on the inside of any garage door to turn your garage into a more comfortable transition area into the home.

Whatever insulation you end up using, be aware of what its R-value is.  The higher the better.  Keep your home warm and cozy in the winter and cool and fresh in the summer.  Having insulation with enough R-value will help you accomplish this.

When you are poking around your home, especially if it is an older dwelling, be extra careful to make sure not to fiddle with any asbestos insulation.  Leave the remediation of asbestos to the contractors.  Professionally licensed asbestos specialists can safely remove or insulate around existing suspicious material.

For the homeowner or business owner who is sensitive to noise, another kind of insulation is available -- acoustic foam.  This is terrific for eliminating exterior noise or for creating a sound proof room for sleeping or musical endeavors.

Make a list of all your home’s needs before you launch your project.  Don’t forget water heaters and pipes when you are making your preparations.  Use the above ideas to get you started.  And whether you do it yourself or hire a professional, the knowledge you amass in the insulation world will help you end up with a better equipped home or business.
